de Haan is a little banged up, so he will likely sit out of Saturday's game in Edmonton. With de Haan out, expect Caleb Jones to skate on the top pair with Seth Jones.

de Haan was in his second game back in the lineup on Tuesday when he departed after playing just 3:50 TOI and did not return. With de Haan listed as day-to-day, Nicolas Beaudin will draw into the lineup vs. Nashville.

This is the second time in less than a year that de Haan has underwent major surgery on his right shoulder, which is obviously troubling for the Blackhawks who have him under contract through the 2021-22 season. With de Haan out for the year and being moved to LTIR, the Blackhawks gain $4.55M in salary cap relief but it will be difficult for them to replace de Haan through their minor league system or through a trade.

de Haan was hurt midway through Tuesday's game in Vegas and was immediately sent back to Chicago for evaluation. de Haan being placed on IR means he will miss at least three games. With de Haan out, Slater Koekkoek will draw back into the lineup on Thursday.

de Haan has been questionable leading up to the Blackhawks season opener in Prague but was officially ruled out a few hours prior to puck-drop. Dennis Gilbert will play in his second career NHL game in de Haan's spot on the Blackhawks blueline.

In his first and only season with the Hurricanes, de Haan registered one goal with 13 assists (14 points) in 74 gmaes. It was the worst statistical season of de Haan’s 378-game career. The 28-year-old has three year’s left with $4.55M cap-hit and represents the second offseason addition to the Blackhawks blueline—they acquired Olli Maatta from the Penguins just over a week ago.

de Haan skated again during the morning skate but will remain sidelined for the third straight playoff game. Haydn Fleury will stay on the Hurricanes third pairing until de Haan is healthy.

de Haan suffered an upper-body injury in Pittsburgh on Sunday and did not accompany the team to Toronto for Tuesday’s game. Haydn Fleury was recalled from Charlotte (AHL) and will replace de Haan in the lineup.

de Haan has missed the last two games with an upper-body injury but has not officially been ruled out of tonight’s game in Boston. Monitor his status as the Hurricanes hit the ice for warmups.

de Haan was one of the biggest defenseman on the market and lands in Carolina, where he’ll be a part of one of the best bluelines in the NHL. de Haan is coming off of a bad shoulder injury, that limited him to 33 games in 2018. However, he was on-pace for a career-high 30 points (3G / 27A) before getting hurt.

de Haan was set to miss tonight’s game vs. the Red Wings and it sounds like he will be sidelined for an extended period of time. There are reports that de Haan could miss the rest of the regular season, but the Islanders have yet to put an official timetable on de Haan’s return.
