Pickard is 5-9-2 with a 2.79 GAA and .909 SV% at the Pepsi Center this season and New Jersey is 12-16-6 on the road.
Pickard was pulled after he allowed five goals on 20 shots in Colorado’s loss in Winnipeg on Saturday. Pickard has lost four in a row while posting a 3.49 GAA and .910 SV%. Jeremy Smith started on Sunday, but they’ll go back to Pickard tonight vs. the Hurricanes—he stopped 28 of 29 shots in a win in Carolina on February 17th.
Because the Avalanche did not skate, it remains to be seen who will start between the pipes in Ottawa. Jeremy Smith started three in a row and is coming off of a loss in Philadelphia on Tuesday, which suggests Pickard will draw tonight's game.
