The Blue Jackets signed Cam Atkinson to a seven-year extension worth $41.125M ($5.875M AAV).

Atkinson’s extension include a no-trade or no-move clause in the first two years of the deal and a limited no-trade after that. Atkinson had a breakout campaign in 2016-17 but has struggled early-on in 2017-18, collecting just four goals and two assists (six points) in 15 games. Regardless of the slow start, Atkinson is locked into a large role in the Blue Jackets offence and is now signed there through the 2024-25 season.

Atkinson (lower-body) did not practice Wednesday; will not play Thursday in Florida.

Atkinson will miss his second straight game with a lower-body injury that he suffered last Saturday and it’s unclear whether he will join the team on their three-game road trip or not. Tyler Motte will remain in the lineup with Atkinson sidelined.

Atkinson is questionable for Monday’s game with a lower-body injury.

Atkinson was forced to exit Saturday’s game early because of a lower-body injury, putting his status for tonight’s game in jeopardy. On Monday morning the Blue Jackets recalled Tyler Motte from Cleveland (AHL) which suggests that Atkinson won’t be available against the Bruins.

#CBJ coach Todd Richards said club has reassigned F Nick Drazenovic. Atkinson and Anisimov expected to play against Detroit.

Atkinson (ankle) has only appeared in three games this season but it looks like he will make his return to the lineup tomorrow vs. the Red Wings. Atkinson is a goal-scorer and Columbus will be happy to have him back in the lineup.
