Cizikas has missed the last six games with a lower-body injury but appears ready-to-go in Boston on Thursday. With Cizikas back on the active roster, the Islanders have assigned Tanner Fritz to Bridgeport (AHL).

Cizikas has not played since November 15th and is two weeks into this original 2-3 week timetable. Returning to the ice on his own was the next step in his recovery. Look for him to join his teammates next week and could return to the lineup by next weekend.

Cizikas will miss 2-3 weeks with a lower-body injury, so he has been moved to IR to open up a roster spot to recall Stephen Gionta from Bridgeport (AHL).

Cizikas was questionable for Saturday’s game but his move to IR means the will be out against the Predators. Cizikas’ move to IR is retroactive to Monday, so it allowed them to sign Stephen Gionta without sending anyone down. He could end up missing jut one game.

Cizikas is day-to-day with a lower-body injury that he suffered during Monday’s game vs. the Sharks and missed Friday’s practice. If Cizikas can’t play, the Islanders may sign Stephen Gionta to a contract and have him draw into the lineup.

Cizikas will be replaced by Chris Wagner tonight and there are some “longer-term concerns” for Cizikas according to head coach Doug Weight. Cizikas is not expected to travel to Ottawa for Tuesday’s game.

Cizikas missed last night’s game for the birth of his child but he will play tonight in Pittsburgh. Cizikas will replace Sebastian Aho as the Islanders will go back to 12 forwards and six defensemen.

Cizikas is with his wife as they are expecting the birth of a child. Cizikas was reportedly at the hospital this morning, which suggests that he won’t be available for tonight’s game. If Cizikas can’t play, Ross Johnston will draw back into the lineup.

Cizikas suffered an upper-body injury in Detroit on Tuesday and is expected to miss one month. With him out for four weeks, Cizikas’ move to IR was simply a formality to open a roster spot.
