DeSmith gave up four goals on 34 shots in the Penguins' win in New York on Saturday. DeSmith has won three straight starts despite allowing a combined 11 goals on 83 shots (.868 SV%). He'll be in tough on Monday with another matchup vs. the Rangers. New York's offence is starting to wake up, scoring 3.14 goals per game in their last seven games.
DeSmith allowed four goals on 26 shots in the Penguins win over the Capitals last Tuesday. Tristan Jarry started the last four games but DeSmith will make his third start Saturday in New York. He's won his first two starts despite allowing seven goals on 49 shots (.857 SV%). The Rangers enter play having lost four of their last five, included two in a row to the Penguins last weekend.
DeSmith is not expected to play over the weekend. With a 5:00 pm game on Sunday, Tristan Jarry will remain in Pittsburgh, so DeSmtih will back up Matt Murray in Montreal and Jarry will start the Sunday game.
DeSmith allowed three goals on 40 shots in the Penguins win over the Senators last Friday. With Matt Murray out, DeSmith could get the next couple of starts. DeSmith has gone 4-6-2 with a 2.83 GAA, .903 SV% and one shutout on the road this year.
DeSmith allowed six goals on 34 shots in the Penguins loss in Vegas on January 19th. DeSmith has had a solid season but has been terrible lately, losing three straight while allowing a combined 14 goals on 88 shots (.841 SV%). As bad as he’s played recently, he is a strong option vs. the visiting Senators.
