Chad Johnson News

Johnson is expected to start for the Islanders.

Johnson allowed three goals on 21 shots in the Islanders loss to the Canadiens on Tuesday. With Jaroslav Halak on IR with a lower-body injury, it should be Johnson tonight in Buffalo. He hasn’t has a great season, but he draws a strong spot-start matchup tonight and is worth consideration.

Johnson surrendered five goals on 30 shots in the Islanders loss to the Wild back on December 9th. Jaroslav Halak started the last five games, but it will be Johnson tonight vs. the Habs. Johnson is 5-4-0 with a 3.59 GAA and .868 SV% on the year, so spot-starting him vs. Montreal would be risky.

Johnson will start for the Islanders, Jaroslav Halak is out with an upper-body injury.

Halak was scheduled to start tonight, but he will serve as Johnson’s backup because he is dealing with a “minor” upper-body injury. Johnson allowed four goals on 26 shots in a loss to the Wild in his last start on November 28th.

Johnson surrendered five goals on 28 shots in a loss to the Lightning on Saturday. Johnson is 4-2-0 with a 3.28 GAA and .878 SV% in six starts this season. He doesn’t make for an appealing spot-start tonight on the road vs. the 13-3-1 Penguins.

Johnson gets the nod for the Islanders.

Johnson allowed five goals on 23 shots in a loss to the Avalanche last Thursday. He will get back between the pipes tonight after watching the last two games. His .870 SV% leaves little to be desired from a fantasy perspective, especially on a night where he takes on the Kings in L.A.

Johnson allowed five goals on 31 shots but came away with the win against the Stars on Saturday. After a rough showing by Jaroslav Halak on Tuesday, Johnson will be back between the pipes on Thursday in Colorado. It will be an interesting battle between a team who can't keep the puck our of their net vs. a team struggling to score.

Johnson is the Islanders confirmed starter.

Johnson stopped 30 of 32 shots in a 3-2 win over the Bruins on Thursday, so it looks like the Isles will reward him with back-to-back starts. He has won each of his two starts with a 2.15 GAA and .918 SV%, but he draws a very difficult matchup tonight vs. a red-hot Dallas Stars' first line.

Johnson will face his former team on Thursday.

Johnson stopped all five shots that he faced after replacing Jaroslav Halak on Tuesday vs. Toronto. He won his first start vs. the Hurricanes, but it will be much tougher sledding tonight in Boston. He might bring his A-game because it is his former team, but look at your other options before using him as a spot-start.

Johnson's first start as an Islander will come in the second game of the home-and-home vs. the Hurricanes. He will look to follow Jaroslav Halak who started in New York's 5-3 win last night. Johnson was 17-4-3 with a 2.10 GAA and .925 SV% with the Bruins last season.

Johnson leads the Bruins onto the ice for warmups.

Johnson allowed one goal on 37 shots in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Jets on Thursday. Today, he will start behind a patchwork Bruins line-up with a bunch of key players resting. He has been excellent all season long, but the team in front of him this afternoon makes him a risky spot-start.

Tuukka Rask was the first goalie off of the ice at the morning skate, but that is why that is likely and not Confirmed. Johnson will get the nod vs. the Jets in the Bruins third to last game of the season. Johnson is an amazing 17-3-2 with a 2.12 GAA and .923 SV% this season. He makes for a great spot-start, but it is probably too late… Claude Julien gets us again.

Johnson stopped all 31 shots that he faced in a 2-0 win over the Avalanche on March 21. He served as Tuukka Rask's backup for the next three games, but will be back between the pipes this afternoon in Washington. Johnson has won his last five starts with a ridiculous 1.20 GAA and .954 SV%. If you are looking for a spot-start, he is as sure of a bet as you'll find. However, be aware of the Alex Ovechkin matchup.
