The Coyotes signed Garland to a two-year contract extension. The deal will keep Garland with the Coyotes through the 2020-2021 season.

Garland was “sent” to the AHL on Wednesday in a paper move before the NHL roster freeze but returns ahead of Thursday’s game. Garland has not recorded a point but has 16 shots on goal while averaging 13:11 TOI/gm in six games.
Garland was given an opportunity to produce right away, playing on the top PP and seeing some top-6 minutes but didn’t pick up a point in six games. He heads back to Tucson where he has 19 points (8G / 11A) in 18 games this season.
