Conor Sheary News
After a couple of disappointing seasons in Buffalo, Sheary has been solid for the Capitals in 2020, scoring 11 goals with eight assists (19 points) in 40 games. He earns a raise of $765K per season.
Sheary returns to Pittsburgh after a two-year stint in Buffalo. Sheary has failed to replicate his production from his 52-point breakout campaign in 2017, averaging just 32 points over the last two seasons. He is set to become an unrestricted free-agent on July 1st.
Sheary will miss a couple of weeks with an upper-body injury that it is believed he suffered late in Monday’s overtime loss. Evan Rodrigues will make his season debut replacing Sheary on Wednesday and will likely be his permanent replacement for the next couple of weeks.
Sheary played a season-high 12:05 TOI on Monday night but is questionable for Wednesday’s game due to an upper-body injury. The Sabres called him day-to-day, so monitor his status during tomorrow’s morning skate.
Sheary didn’t play in Saturday’s preseason finale and missed Sunday’s practice as well. Sabres head coach Ralph Krueger said that Sheary skated on his own before practice, but his absence over the weekend clouds his status for Thursday’s season opener.
Sheary has missed the last four games with an upper-body injury but is expected to be back in the lineup against the Maple Leafs. Sheary is still listed as a game-time decision but is expected to play. Sheary has 12 points (6G / 6A) in 24 games this season.
Sheary has missed the last three games with an upper-body injury but could be back on Monday. Sheary took part in the Sabres morning skate but stayed on late with the extras, which suggests he’ll miss a fourth consecutive game.
Sheary has will miss his third straight game on Friday and will be forced to miss next Monday’s game in Nashville as well after being moved to IR. His movement to IR opened up a roster spot for the Sabres to activate Patrik Berglund.
Sheary will not play on Thursday but has not been ruled out for Friday’s game in Florida. With Sheary out, Remi Elie will remain in the Sabres lineup against the Lightning.
Sheary was on the ice for Monday’s practice, but did not come out for today’s morning skate and will be scratched vs. the Sharks. Sheary is expected to be replaced by Tage Thompson on the Sabres second line.
Sheary will miss the rest of the preseason but the Sabres expect their new winger to be ready for the first game of the season vs. the Bruins (Oct. 4). Sheary was projected to play in the Sabres’ top-6, but this injury could lead to him playing in the bottom-6 to start the season. Sheary will need to play with Jack Eichel or Casey Mittelstadt if he’s going to have any fantasy value this season.
