Despite the loss, it was a great return to the crease for Crawford who had previously missed 10 games after undergoing an appendectomy. Crawford will face the jets at the United Center, where he is 7-1-3 with a 1.89 GAA and .940 SV% this season.
Crawford has been sidelined since December 1st, but will get back in the cage tonight vs. the Avalanche. Scott Darling was superb in Crawford’s absence, going 6-3-1 with a 2.12 GAA and .930 SV% in the 10 games Crawford missed. The 31-year-old has played very well this season and should be activated in all formats vs. a struggling Avalanche team.
Crawford was on the ice again on Monday and confirmed that he is hoping to be back in the crease by Friday. Scott Darling will start tonight, but continue to monitor Crawford’s status as the week progresses.
Crawford underwent an appendectomy on December 3rd and was given a two-to-three week timetable, so he could return next week and should definitely be available after the Christmas break. Scott Darling has played very well in Crawford’s absence, so there’s no need to rush Crawford back.
With Crawford sidelined, the Blackhawks turn to Scott Darling in net and have recalled Lars Johansson from Rockford. This is a tough break for Crawford owners because Crawford had been playing great prior to the injury.
Crawford was schedule to start Saturday’s game in Philadelphia but was forced to undergo an emergency appendectomy and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. Scott Darling will take over as the Blackhawks’ No.1 netminder.
