Crawford will start Friday vs. the Predators.

Crawford allowed three goals on 32 shots in the Blackhawks’ opening night loss to the Blues. There are going to be growing pains for the Blackhawks this season as they transition to a lineup with multiple first-year NHL players. Crawford was busy on Wednesday and there’s a strong chance that will be the case against tonight in Nashville. The Predators are an extremely talented and deep team heading into 2016-17.

It wasn’t a great return to the crease, but it was great for Crawford that least get a game in before the playoffs. Crawford will likely be a Vezina Trophy finalist after going 35-18-5 on the year. The 31-year-old has gone 2-0-2 with a 2.42 GAA and .913 SV% in four starts against the Blues this season.

Crawford has missed the last four games and will miss at least four more games with an upper-body injury. Scott Darling gets the nod on Saturday and Michael Leighton could get a start on the road-trip. Crawford won’t be available until the team returns home for their April 3rd meeting with the Bruins.

Crawford surrendered four goals on 20 shots in the Blackhawks loss in Dallas on Friday. Crawford lost both of his starts on the Hawks’ brief two-game road-trip, allowing a combined six goals on 50 shots (.880 SV%). Crawford was victorious in his first start vs. the Kings and has gone 20-8-2 with a 1.74 GAA and .944 SV% on home ice this season.

He’ll take on the Stars for the fourth time this season—he is 1-2-0 with a 3.87 GAA and .897 SV% in the first three meetings.

The Blackhawks and Crawford are also a different team on the road than they are on home ice—Crawford is 14-8-1 with a 2.89 GAA and .909 SV% in arenas that aren’t the United Center.

Crawford has struggled recently, losing five of his last six, being pulled twice and posting a 3.41 GAA and .903 SV%. Things will not get any easier for him this afternoon in Washington. The Caps have won five of their last six and sit atop the NHL.
