McElhinney surrendered five goals on 39 shots in a 5-4 loss to the Flyers. The Blue Jackets will get Marian Gaborik and James Wisniewski back on Saturday when they take on the Flyers again. McElhinney is 3-2-0 with a 2.64 GAA and .918 SV% since taking over as the Blue Jackets starter.
McElhinney gets the call between the pipes tonight against the Flyers after missing the last two games with a lower-body injury. Since Sergei Bobrovsky went down with an injury, McElhinney has won three of four starts with a 2.12 GAA and .930 SV%. He has a fairly good matchup against a Philly team who are 3-5-0 in December.
McElhinney will not dress tonight but this is positive news that he will not be out for long. After tonight, the Blue Jackets are back in action on Thursday, monitor McElhinney's status leading up to their matchup with the Flyers.
McElhinney made 15 saves on 16 shots and departed with the Blue Jackets up 3-1. He has been solid through three starts as the Blue Jackets' number-1 going 2-1-0 with 2.00 GAA and .929 SV%. Expect an update on McElhinney's status to come tomorrow.
McElhinney gave up four goals on 34 shots, but it was enough to get the W on Tuesday vs. the Devils. He is now 2-1-0 as the Blue Jackets starter and draws a decent matchup tonight against the Rangers. New York has lost three straight with Henrik Lundqvist allowing four goals in each of those games.

It was a great outing vs. a good Penguins team, but his team couldn't get enough rubber past Marc-Andre Fleury. His 0.89 GAA and .966 SV% since Bobrovsky went down is encouraging and he draws a great matchup tonight vs. a lowly Devils offence.
McElhinney stopped all 20 shots he faced to shutout the WIld in the Blue Jackets' 4-0 win on Friday. It was a great way to start his reign as Columbus' starter. He will be in for a tough night this evening when they travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Penguins.
With Sergei Bobrovsky sidelined with a lower-body injury, McElhinney becomes the Blue Jackets starter for now. He will face the Wild on Friday - which is not the best matchup. When called upon this season, McElhinney is 1-3-1 with a 2.34 GAA and .925 SV%.
McElhinney allowed three goals on 14 shots in a relief appearance on November 19. He is 1-2-1 with a 2.32 GAA and .923 SV% in six appearances this season. As solid as he has been, he is not a legitimate spot-start option against the Bruins tonight.
Todd Richards hadn't made up his mind yet but McElhinney is likely to start Friday vs. a weaker Edmonton team than Boston. However, stay tuned for a confirmation.
Bobrovsky gets the night off after his overtime loss yesterday. McElhinney gave up three goals on 23 shots in a loss to the Senators on November 5. He has a single win in four appearances despite a strong 1.97 GAA and .931 SV%. McElhinney does not have the best matchup tonight with the Habs in town.
McElhinney stopped 24 of 26 shots in a 3-0 loss to the Penguins on Saturday. He played well but the Blue Jackets couldn't put one past Jeff Zatkoff. Tonight doesn't get much easier with the Senators 12th ranked offence in town.
McElhinney was great in his Blue Jackets debut on October 20, he stopped 37 of 38 shots in a win over the Canucks. He also allowed one goal on 14 shots in a a relief effort of Sergei Bobrovsky last evening. The Penguins pose a ton of problems for everyone, so McElhinney would be a risky spot start.
McElhinney was 29-16-3 with a 2.32 GAA and .923 SV% in the AHL last season. He has a pretty tough matchup with the Canucks in town, but you could use him as a spot start if you are really desperate.
Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards said earlier this week that he wanted to get McElhinney, who hasn't made an appearance for the Jackets, a start in one of the Jackets' back-to-back games this weekend and it appears Sunday will be the day. He was 29-16-3 with a 2.32 GAA and .923 SV%.
Despite barely playing in the NHL, it would not be surprising for McElhinney to see some playing time with the Blue Jackets.
With Smith activated from IR, McElhinney is expendable. He did well in his only start with the Coyotes, stopping 28 of 30 shots faced.
In three career appearances against the Wild, McElhinney has a 0-1-1 record with a 3.40 GAA and .868 SV%.
McElhinney has the potential to start at the NHL level and may get the call with the Coyotes.
