Columbus comes in having lost four of their last six games.

With Andersen starting last night, McElhinney will face the same Stars team tonight on home-ice. He is 1-2-0 with a 2.52 GAA .916 SV% since being claimed by the Maple Leafs.

It was a nice debut for McElhinney, who will be making his second start in Blue and White tonight in Philadelphia. After struggling for much of January, the Flyers have suddenly won two in a row and will present a tough test for the veteran netminder.

The Maple Leafs clearly wanted Antoine Bibeau in the AHL and the veteran McElhinney is a low-cost option to backup Frederik Andersen, who will see the vast majority of starts in the second half.

McElhinney will make his first start since December 20th—he stopped 44 of 46 shots in a win over the Kings. Tonight he will take on the Rangers on home-ice. Tonight he will make his first start since January 2nd, that night he allowed four goals on 27 shots in a 5-4 shootout win vs. Washington. He is 1-5-0 with a 3.47 GAA and .885 SV% on the road this season.
McElhinney left Saturday’s game vs. the Capitals with an ankle injury and did not return. On Monday he was placed on IR but the Blue Jackets didn’t offer any insight on how long he would be out, other than “out indefinitely.” With McElhinney and Sergei Bobrovsky now out, the Blue Jackets will have a goalie tandem of Anton Forsberg and Joonas Korpisalo.
