Girardi suffered an upper-body injury on Tuesday and missed Thursday’s game vs. the Islanders. With the Rangers having little to nothing to play for in Saturday’s game, expect him to sit out in an attempt to be ready for Game 1 of the playoffs.

Girardi left Sunday's game after taking a snapshot to the back of his leg. He had to get stitches to repair a cut on his leg and he is considered day-to-day. The Rangers will take on the Devils tomorrow and if Girardi is unable to go, he is expected to be replaced by Mike Kostka.

Girardi was injured when he blocked a shot in the early in the third period. He played just one shift in the third and will not return. This would be a huge loss for a Rangers blueline that is already struggling in the early part of the season.

Justin Falk will play his first game since December 29th with Girardi resting. This will be the first game that Girardi has missed this season.

There were rumours swirling around Girardi and possibly being dealt before the trade deadline. Girardi has tallied four goals and 13 assists (17 points) with a plus-4 rating in 60 games this season. Girardi's extension carries an AAV of $5.5 million US.

Girardi is dealing with a bone bruise and was on the ice this morning for the Rangers. He is one-part of New York's top-pair that is currently dealing with injuries. It looks like Girardi and Ryan McDonagh will both be in on Tuesday when the Rangers take on the Jets, but keep an eye on them tomorrow.

There is no further news other than the X-rays are negative at this point, consider Girardi day-to-day for now. Monitor his status as the week progresses.

Girardi will be back tonight after missing the last two contests. He is averaging close to 25 minutes a game this season and has 2 assists to go along with a -3 in 8 games. He is a decent fantasy option because of the minutes he plays at even-strength and on the power-play.
