Kuemper stopped 39 of 40 shots in a 2-1 shootout win over the Kings on Tuesday. It was his first NHL win of the season and a very strong performance against a quality team. He will start tonight against a Predators team who have lost five of their last six.
Kuemper has started one game and has one relief effort this season, in those two games he is 0-1-0 with a 6.13 GAA and .625 SV%… Yep. In the AHL he is 7-10-0 with a 2.47 GAA and .929 SV%. Obviously it is a small sample size for his NHL performances this season, but the matchup with the Kings is an ugly one.
Kuemper will serve as Niklas Backstrom's backup tonight but is not expected to stay with the team long. He was recalled because Josh Harding is out with the flu.

Niklas Backstrom is out with a knee injury so Kuemper gets called up to backup Josh Harding. The WIld have back-to-back games tonight and tomorrow, so Kuemper could get the start tomorrow.
