Dubnyk had a disastrous season between the Oilers and Predators last season. He went 11-18-3 with a 3.43 GAA and .891 SV%. He should not be considered as a spot-start option tonight vs. the Kings.
Dubnyk spent last season between the Oilers, Predators and Canadiens and finished 11-18-3 with a 3.43 GAA and .891 SV%. The Coyotes lost Thomas Greiss to the Penguins, so Dubnyk should step in as Mike Smith's backup in 2014-15.
Dubnyk cleared waivers a few days ago, but has now been sent to the Habs as insurance. This deal has Carey Price owners and Habs fans worried about how serious Price's lower-body injury is. Dubnyk will likely serve as Peter Budaj's backup until Price is ready to go.
It is a bit surprising that a couple of teams in need of goaltending depth did not claim Dubnyk. He will likely go to Milwaukee with Pekka Rinne and Carter Hutton as the Preds' goaltending tandem.
WIth Pekka Rinne back with the Preds and the emergence of Carter Hutton, Dubnyk has been placed on waivers in an attempt to send him to Milwaukee (AHL). However, with he could be claimed by the Oilers and return as their backup as they try to trade Ilya Bryzgalov before the deadline. He could also be claimed by the Sabres so that they don't need to acquire a backup as they try to trade Jaroslav Halak.
Dubnyk allowed five goals on 29 shots in his Predators debut on December 18. He will look to make a better impression in his second start when he faces the Flames tonight. Calgary is a familiar foe from his days in Edmonton. He is 2-0-1 with a 1.32 GAA and .955 SV% against the Flames this season.
Dubnyk will make his Predators debut tonight after being traded for Matt Hendricks on Wednesday. On one of the NHL's worst defensive teams he was 11-17-2 with a 3.36 GAA and .894 SV%. In Nashville he will play behind a much stingier defensive unit which should help improve his overall numbers. It might be difficult to make a good first impression when he faces the 30-12-5 Avalanche. In his two previous games against Colorado he was 1-1-0 with a 2.54 GAA and .932 SV%.
Dubnyk is 11-17-2 with a 3.36 GAA and .894 SV% this season. He will be better off in Nashville, their blueline is way better than in Edmonton and they play a much more defensive oriented style of hockey compared to the Oilers. This move will force the Predators to send Marek Mazanec or Carter Hutton to Milwaukee (AHL). I would guess that Hutton will be the player to go.
Dubnyk gave up three goals on 28 shots in a 4-3 OT win over the Penguins on Friday. It sounded like the original plan was to go with Ilya Bryzgalov against the Blackhawks, but following a rare strong performance from Dubnyk, they will turn to him again tonight. If you need goalie numbers, you can take a chance on him, but the matchup is an ugly one.
Dubnyk surrendered five goals on 36 shots in a loss to the Sharks on January 2. It was a pretty ugly way to follow-up his second shutout of the season. He has fallen behind Ilya Bryzgalov as the Oilers starter and enters play tonight 10-16-2 with a 3.31 GAA and .895 SV%. He has a terrible matchup tonight vs. the red-hot Penguins.
Dubnyk stopped all 27 shots that he faced in a 2-0 shutout win over the Flames last Friday. The win was his 10th of the season and he will go for number-11 tonight vs. the Sharks. He allowed three goals on 37 shots in a 3-1 loss to San Jose in November.
