The Maple Leafs have acquired goaltender Frederik Andersen from the Ducks for the 30th overall pick in 2016 and a 2017 2nd Round Pick.

Andersen was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1st, but there are reports that the Maple Leafs have already signed Andersen to a five-year contract extension. The 26-year-old, who went 22-9-7 with a 2.30 GAA and .919 SV% with Anaheim last year will compete with Jonathan Bernier for the Leafs No.1 job this fall. He has a carer 2.33 GAA and .918 SV% in 124 career starts.

After John Gibson started and lost the first two games of the series, the Ducks will turn to Andersen tonight for a pivotal game three. Andersen had a strong year, going 22-9-7 with a 2.30 GAA, .919 SV% and three shutouts. Two of those starts came against the Predators, where he went 1-1-0 wit ha 3.48 GAA and .904 SV%.

Andersen gave up six goals on 26 shots in the Ducks 6-5 OT loss to the Maple Leafs on Thursday. Bad outings have become rare for Andersen, who is 4-1-1 with a 2.34 GAA and .919 SV% in March. He draws a good matchup vs. an Ottawa team that has lost six of nine—Andersen stopped 24 of 25 shots in a 4-1 win in his first start vs. the Senators.

Andersen stopped all 38 shots that he faced in the Ducks shutout win over the Bruins last Friday. It was Andersen’s 20th win and second shutout of the season for Andersen, who will make his 35th start of the season tonight. Andersen is 4-1-0 with a 1.51 GAA and .946 SV% in March and he’ll face a Maple Leafs team that has won four of five while averaging 3.00 goals per game.

Andersen gave up four goals on 22 shots in the Ducks loss in St. Louis on Friday. Despite the struggle, the Ducks will continue to roll with their two-start rotation tonight. The loss snapped a six-game winning streak, but tonight he’ll look to start a new one. He stopped 21 of 22 shots in a 2-1 win in his first start vs. the Devils this season.

Andersen allowed two goals on 34 shots in the Ducks win in Los Angeles last Saturday. The Ducks will continue their goalie rotation, going back to Andersen tonight after John Gibson started the last two games. Andersen is riding a six-game winning streak while posting a 1.88 GAA and .935 SV%.

Andersen turned aside 27 of 28 shots in the Ducks win in Arizona on Thursday. Andersen has won five in a row while posting a 1.79 GAA, .934 SV% and one shutout. Andersen has played very well this season, but has struggled a bit on the road—he has gone 8-7-3 with a 2.49 GAA and .915 SV% on the road.

Andersen allowed one goal on 18 shots in the Ducks win over the Oilers last Friday. Andersen has won his last four starts while posting a 1.99 GAA, .926 SV% and one shutout. Tonight will be his third start of the season against Arizona—he has gone 1-0-1 with a 2.50 GAA and .905 SV% in the first two, but tonight Niklas Treutle will be making his first career NHL start for the Yotes.

Andersen stopped all 26 shots that he faced in the Ducks shutout win over the Sabres on Wednesday. Andersen has won four straight starts while posting a 2.47 GAA, /915 SV% and one shutout. The 26-year-old has gone 1-0-1 with a 3.46 GAA and .870 SV% in two starts vs. the Oilers this season, but disregard though numbers, Andersen should be a safe start tonight.

Andersen surrendered three goals on 27 shots in the Ducks win in Edmonton last Tuesday. John Gibson started the last two contests, but it looks like Andersen will start tonight vs. the Sabres. Andersen is 6-0-1 with a 2.40 GAA and .918 SV% in February and makes for a strong option with the Sabres in town.
