Gustav Lindstrom News
Lindstrom has a goal, six assists, 18 SOG, 12 PIMs and a -10 plus/minus through 30 games but will be a game-time decision Thursday as he deals with an undisclosed injury. If he is unable to go, Simon Edvinsson will replace him in Detroit's lineup.
Lindstrom was back in the Red Wings' lineup for only the second time since Dec. 14th in Detroit's victory Wednesday but will head back to the press box as a healthy scratch yet again Thursday vs. Toronto. The 24-year-old stay-at-home defender has two assists, 11 SOG and a -8 plus/minus through 19 games with the Red Wings.
Lindstrom last played for the Red Wings on Dec. 14th but will draw back into the lineup Friday vs. Florida as he replaces Jordan Oesterle. The 24-year-old stay-at-home defenseman had one assist, nine SOG and a -9 plus/minus through 17 games with Detroit earlier in the season.
Lindstrom will not be available for Thursday's game in New York. The Red Wings said they are hoping that it is a day-to-day injury but that he's still being evaluated. Consider him day-to-day until they release a more detailed timeline.
Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill said that Lindstrom will not play on Wednesday but does not believe it will be a long-term thing. Filip Hronek, who has been a healthy scratch for the last two games, will replace him in Washington.
Lindstrom appeared to have a track to being a full-time NHL player in 2021-22, until Marc Staal signed a one-year extension on Sunday. Still, Lindstrom appeared din 13 NHL games a season ago and should be a factor with both the Red Wings and Griffins (AHL) next season.
Lindstrom missed Wednesday's practice and will not play Thursday vs. the Wild. Lindstrom, who is day-to-day, will be replaced by Filip Hronek, who is returning from a head injury.
Lindstrom missed Wednesday's practice and is questionable to play Thursday vs. the Wild. Cody Goloubef skated in his spot on the third pair, so look for him to play there if Lindstrom can't go.
Lindstrom was sent down on Monday to maintain his eligibility for the AHL playoffs. Lindstrom will appear in his 11th straight NHL game but is still looking for his first career point. He has averaging 16:19 TOI/gm and is a minus-7 with 10 PIMS.
Sending Lindstrom makes him eligible to play in the AHL playoffs, which is where the Red Wings will want him once the NHL season is over. He could be recalled before Tuesday's game but Cody Goloubef is also expected to make his Red Wings debut.
Lindstrom was a second-round pick of the Red Wings in 2017 (No.38 overall) and is in his first season in North America. The 21-year-old defenseman has registered five assists in 45 AHL games this season. He takes Mike Green's (upper-body) spot on the roster.
