It's unclear when Trouba was hurt but he did block a Will Butcher shot late in the second period and did not return for the third. This is a huge blow for Rangers, who are already learning on Adam Fox as heavily as they can. Luckily K'Andre Miller was back on the ice for Wednesday's practice and could be back in on Thursday.
The Rangers acquired the RFA defenseman from the Jets for Neal Pionk and a 2019 first-round pick on June 18th and signed him through the 2025-26 season. Trouba is being re-evaluated for a concussion and is not going to be in the Jets lineup vs. the Kings on Tuesday. This is a terrible break for the Jets and Trouba owners, who just recently got the start defeseman back in the lineup last week. Joe Morrow will replace Trouba in the lineup tonight.

Trouba suffered the ankle injury late in overtime of the Jets’ shootout loss to the Ducks before the All Star break. Trouba and Josh Morrissey have been the Jets’ go-to shutdown pairing this season so the absence of Trouba will test their blueline. With Trouba out until mid-March, Tucker Poolman is expected to be back in the Jets’ lineup on Tuesday.
Trouba will come out of the lineup tonight in Nashville and is expected to be replaced by Julian Melchiori. There’s no word how serious Trouba is, so consider him as day-to-day for now.
Trouba had a high-hit on Stone on Sunday and will miss this Tuesday’s game vs. Toronto and next Tuesday’s game vs. the Wild as a result. Stone left the game with an injury and did not return. Julian Melchiori will fill in for Trouba, unless Toby Enstrom is suddenly ready to return.
