Allen has appeared in 23 games with the Wolves this season, recording a 14-7-0 record. He has a 2.17 GAA to go along with a .922 SV% and two shutouts. He made his regular season NHL debut in 2012-13, going 9-4-0 in 15 appearances. In his NHL career, Allen has a 2.46 GAA, a .905 SV% and one shutout. WIth Jaroslav Halak sick, Allen may backup Brian Elliott tonight.
Jake Allen News
Allen is expected to start the season in the AHL despite having a strong camp.
Allen is not getting as many starts over Elliott now as he did earlier in the season because of Elliott's recent success. Allen will get his seventh start on the road in Columbus on Friday. He is 5-1-0 with a 2.78 GAA and .887 SV% away from St. Louis this season. Don't hesitate to use him as a spot start.
Allen gets the call for the second game of a back-to-back. Brian Elliott played well enough yesterday to get the win vs. Chicago. This will be Allen's first start since being recalled, he has a scary matchup vs. a surprising Blue Jackets squad.
Allen has been called up because Jaroslav Halak was hurt in yesterday's game. Allen is 8-3-0 with a 2.45 GAA, .906 SV% and one shutout this season.
Allen, 22, has appeared in 12 games with the Blues this season, posting an 8-3-0 record with a 2.45 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage. In 35 games with the Rivermen, the 6-foot-2, 195-pound goaltender has a record of 13-19-2 with a 2.89 goals against average, .904 save percentage and two shutouts. Allen is obviously the goalie of the future for the Blues, and only holds value in deep-keeper leagues.
Allen has not started since last Tuesday when he had his five game winning streak snapped. He should be well rested when he faces the Oilers tonight. It is a good matchup for Allen, so he should make for a good start tonight.
Allen was fantasy gold last week. He went 3-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA, .969 SV% and one shutout. He has a tough matchup vs. the Canucks tomorrow. However given the way he has played since being recalled, he should give the Blues a chance to win.
Allen has been awesome since getting recalled. He is 4-0-0 with a 1.99 GAA and .933 SV% since coming up from Peoria. He has a tough matchup tomorrow against Anaheim.
Allen has been awesome since getting recalled. He is 4-0-0 with a 1.99 GAA and .933 SV% since coming up from Peoria. He has a tough matchup tomorrow against Anaheim.
Allen has won all three starts he has made since being recalled a couple of weeks ago to solidify the Blues goaltending. The 22-year-old has posted a 2.65 GAA and .913 SV% in those three starts. He has a decent matchup vs. a mediocre Coyotes team tonight.
Allen is 6-1 on the season with a 2.63 GAA and .903 SV% - outplaying last season's standout goalie tandem Halak and Elliott. No idea how long Hitch will ride the youngster but it could be safe to give up on Elliott - the lower performing goalie of the two - and hope that Halak gets reintroduced more down the stretch.
Allen has won each of his last two starts while allowing three goals in both contests. He will get the nod tonight against a Sharks team who have lost three in a row.
Allen allowed three goals on 26 shots but it was enough as the Blues poured in six goals on Mike Smith. With the win Allen is now 4-1-0 with a 2.69 GAA and .893 SV% this season. He has a decent matchup vs. an inconsistent Sharks team.
The Blues’ save percentage, No. 1 in the NHL last season at .929, has fallen to No. 30 (.870) this year. With the recent goalie struggles the Blues have turned to rookie Jake Allen to get them back on track. Allen started four games while Halak was hurt and Elliott was struggling going 3-1-0 with a 2.62 GAA and .895 SV%. He has a solid matchup vs. the Coyotes tonight.
Blues GM Doug Armstrong did not confirm that Allen would start Thursday when the Blues travel to play Phoenix, saying, “Ken (Hitchcock) makes the lineup card, but I wanted to give him that opportunity. I just felt that when (Tuesday’s) game ended, we needed to look back on when we were having our most success, and what were some of the components, and Jake was one of those components. We think Jake has proven to be able to play at a high level over a short period of time.”
Allen played very well in his 4 starts while Halak was out with an injury. He went 3-1-0 with a 2.62 GAA and .895 SV%. He will return to the AHL where he was 12-16-2 with a 2.94 GAA and .903 SV% before his call-up.
Allen has won 3 straight and will get another start tonight after his recent success. With Jaroslav Halak just getting back from injury and Brian Elliott struggling this season the Blues will continue to ride the young goalies hot streak. Allen's 2.77 GAA and .888 SV% aren't great but to St. Louis the three straight wins is all that matters.
With Halak's return still up in the air, Allen will look to continue his superb play on the road against a tough Canucks team.
With Halak out with an injury and Elliott on a major slump Allen will get his second straight start tonight vs. the Flames. Allen didn't see a lot of shots in his first start, stopping 15 of 18 shots he faced against Detroit and recording the OT win. He has a pretty good match-up tonight against Calgary and could be worth a spot start; if you trust the young netminder.
