Jakob Chychrun News

Chychrun is coming off wrist surgery in the offseason and missed the first 16 games of the season. Despite wanting to be traded out of Arizona, Chychrun is expected to suit up Monday vs. the Predators. It's unclear how many minutes he will play in his season debut but he figures to serve a role on the power-play and is coming off of 21 points (7G / 14A) in 47 games a season ago.

Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong confirmed Thursday that Jakob Chychrun has experienced a setback in his recovery from a wrist injury that has kept him out all season. Chychrun is coming off an injury-shortened 2021-22 where he had 21 points (7G/14A) in 57 games with 141 SOG and a -20 plus/minus.

Chychrun had to have bone spurs removed from his ankle this summer, in addition to wrist surgery. When he met with reporters on Thursday, he said there's no timeline for him to return to the ice, so it seems as if he's in danger of missing the start of the 2022-23 season.

Chychrun suffered a lower-body injury in Boston on Saturday and returned to Arizona to undergo an MRI on Monday. Chychrun, who may be highly sought after at the trade deadline, will miss at least two weeks.

Chychrun suffered a lower-body injury in Saturday's loss in Boston and was sent back to Arizona to be evaluated. Chychrun is one of the biggest pieces that could be moved at the trade deadline, so teams around the league will be monitoring his health closely.

Chychrun has not played since December 10th, as he's been sidelined by an upper-body injury and COVID-19 protocol. Head coach Andre Tourigny said that one of Chychrun or Kyle Capobianco will be back in the lineup on Wednesday but that both are game-time decisions.

Chychrun suffered an upper-body on Friday and will not play this week. Cam Dineen replaced him on Saturday and should remain in the lineup this week.

Chychrun will miss his seventh consecutive game on Monday but it seems likely that he could be available for Thursday's crucial matchup with the Canucks. With Chychrun out, Oliver Ekman-Larsson is playing 24:31 ATOI and Jordan Oesterle has seen a massive uptick to 19:41 ATOI.

Chychrun missed the last two games with a hip injury that he suffered in Dallas last Wednesday. GM John Chayka met with the media on Monday and listed the young defenseman as week-to-week, which leaves a huge hole on their blueline as they try to lock-up a playoff spot in the Western Conference. So long as Chychrun is out, look for Aaron Ness to remain with the Coyotes.

Chychrun has been a healthy scratch for the last three games but will replace Jordan Oesetrle in Vegas. Chychrun has five goals and 15 assists (20 points) in 52 games this season.

Chychrun was a minus-3 last night in Chicago and will get the night off tonight in St. Louis. Kevin Connauton is expected to draw in and replace the third-year defenseman, who has five goals and 14 assists (19 points) in 47 games this season.

The injuries continue to pile-up for Arizona, who are without Chychrun, Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Jason Demers on the blueline as they head to San Jose. “He tweaked something and we just want to nip it in the bud,” head coach Rick Tocchet told reporters.
