Voracek appeared on-track to return to the lineup vs. the Red Wings tomorrow, but he missed Monday’s practice and will be held out of the lineup for an eighth straight game. Tuesday is the first of a back-to-back, so it seems unlikely that he’ll return vs. the Blackhawks.
Voracek suffered the injury on February 25th and will miss roughly two weeks. He was reportedly spotted wearing a boot, so the “lower-body” injury is expected to be foot or ankle related. With Voracek out, Sam Gagner is expected to skate in the top-six.
Voracek suffered a lower-body injury and will sit on Saturday, but the severity of the injury is unknown at this point. There are reports that Voracek was seen wearing a boot, which isn’t great news, but the Flyers are expected to provide a full update on Monday.
Voracek has been skating on the Flyers’ third line for the last seven games but he registered six assists (all on the power-play) over that span. Voracek was injured on Monday night after being slashed in the hand. If he can't go expect Chris VandeVelde to slide back into the lineup and for the lines to be shuffled.
Voracek will be re-evaluated when the team returned to Philadelphia. The Flyers host Carolina on Tuesday. Voracek’s loss would be huge. He has nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points in his last 19 games. “We’re not sure yet,” coach Craig Berube said. “It’s a loss for sure. He’s a good player and one of our better players. So it’s going to be a loss if he’s out. That happens. People have to step up and play.”
Voracek who finished tied for eighth in the NHL with a team-high 22 goals last season, is expected to start on the Flyers top line with Claude Giroux and Scott Hartnell.
“It’s not serious,” general manager Paul Holmgren said. “I don’t think he was going to play on Thursday anyway.” It sounds like Voracek is going to be fine for the Flyers season opener on October 2nd.
He played 10:27 in the contest and had an awful penalty shot attempt before leaving the game. Expect an update on Voracek's status tomorrow.
This is the expected line with Briere out but Voracek could impress and get a bump in rankings because of it. Especially if he still has RW eligibility in your league.
