van Riemsdyk was a healthy scratch on Friday but will draw back into the lineup for the second half of the Bruins' back-to-back. van Riemsdyk, who has 13 points (5G / 8A) in 18 games, will replace Patrick Brown in the lineup after Brown was assigned to the AHL.
Moran Geekie will draw back into the Bruins lineup on Friday, allowing the 34-year-old Van Riemsdyk to rest on the front end of a back-to-back. Van Riemsdyk has been terrific this season, tallying 13 points (5G / 8A) in 18 games while seeing top powerplay deployment. He is on pace for his highest point total in a season since scoring 54 with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2017-18.
Pressed up against the cap, the Bruins needed some forwards on a reasonable cap-hit and get van Riemsdyk on a very team-friendly, $1.0M AAV deal. van Riemsdyk has spent the last five seasons in Philadelphia, where he had 99 goals and 99 assists (198 points) in 331 games. At age 34, he's probably not the 30-30 threat he was earlier in his career, but he's a solid middle-6 winger who will be a great net-front presence on the power play and should have no problem banging home 20-plus goals on a talented Bruins' roster.
van Riemsdyk missed the Flyers' previous game due to an undisclosed injury but will return to the lineup Wednesday as they take on the New York Rangers. The 33-year-old has nine goals, 14 assists, 81 SOG, and 18 PIMs through 40 games played this season.
van Riemsdyk has missed the last 20 games with a finger injury but is set to play vs. the Capitals on Wednesday. van Riemsdyk will likely start in a bottom-6 role and on PP2.
van Riemsdyk had surgery on his left-index finger Friday. He is expected to be out for six weeks.
van Riemsdyk suffered a hand injury in the first period of Sunday's loss to the Sharks, and it will require surgery. The Flyers did not release a timetable for van Riemsdyk's return. Expect Owen Tippett (upper-body) to replace him in the lineup on Thursday.
van Riemsdyk will miss at least one month after breaking his hand in Washington on Wednesday. If he misses the minimum four weeks, van Riemsdyk will be back just in time for the start of the playoffs. Joel Farabee will replace him in Thursday’s lineup but Derek Grant will take his spot on PP2.
van Riemsdyk left Wednesday’s game after blocking a Jonas Siegenthaler shot and did not return. van Riemsdyk immediately underwent X-rays and it was determined that he suffered a broken right hand and will be sidelined for some time. Head coach Alain Vigneault did not know the severity of it post-game but expect him to be re-evaluated and for the Flyers to release a detailed timeline prior to Thursday’s game vs. the Hurricanes. Joel Farabee was recalled from Lehigh Valley (AHL) and will replace van Riemsdyk in the lineup on Thursday.
van Riemsdyk has missed the last 16 games with a lower-body injury that he suffered in the second game of the season. van Riemsdyk had one assist in his first two games and returns on the third line and first power-play unit against a Devils team that is giving up the third most goals against in the NHL.
