JVR is not expected to play for at least another week but it remains a positive sign to see him on the ice.

Despite getting held without a point, JVR finished with seven shots on goal. His demotion to the third line is likely more indicative of getting all of the three lines going.

As far as van Riemsdyk is concerned, he will most likely be shut down for the final three preseason games as a precaution. “There’s a chance [van Riemsdyk] could play Saturday, but we’ll probably be a little more careful with that,” said Holmgren.
