Jaromir Jagr News

Right wing Jaromir Jagr said he “probably” won’t play in the team’s preseason finale Thursday against Philadelphia, but believes he will be ready for the team’s regular season opener on Oct. 3 in Pittsburgh.

Jagr had hoped to take part in a full practice today, but Devils coach Pete DeBoer gave the team the day off, so he skated on his own instead. “The team had the day off, so I decided to skate on my own a little bit,” Jagr said before joking, “I couldn’t have more days off. That would be too many.”

Jagr was back on the ice today after sitting out of practice for almost two weeks. He said his injury involved muscles in his hip and back area. Thinks it was related to log flight over from Czech.

Jagr skated on a line with Adam Henrique and Damien Brunner.

Jagr lasted only 10 minutes in his first training camp practice before leaving the ice with what the team has called a lower-body injury. He has yet to return to practice.

The Devils are saying the injury is not serious and Jagr should be ready for the season opener. “I believe he’ll be ready. That’s just my opinion,” DeBoer said. “I’d like to see him in an exhibition game or two in a perfect world, but I think he’ll be ready.”

The New Jersey Devils reportedly have signed one of the more coveted unrestricted free agents remaining on the market, with ESPN.com reporting Monday that the team has signed veteran right wing Jaromir Jagr to a one-year contract. According to the ESPN report, the deal will officially be announced Tuesday.

Jagr split last season with the Dallas Stars and Boston Bruins, totaling 16 goals and 19 assists in 45 games, while averaging 18:20 of ice time. He had 10 points -- all assists -- in 22 Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Bruins. Even at age 41, Jagr remains a valuable asset to any team seeking a big body with some scoring touch. Jagr has 681 goals and 1,688 points in 1,391 regular-season games spanning 19 seasons with six different clubs.

Jaromir Jagr will wear No. 68 for the Bruins and won't be available to play tonight vs Ottawa. Will join team tomorrow #BruinsTalk

It is unknown who Jagr will play on a line with but he will definitely see a lot of power-play time and will continue to be solid fantasy player in his new home. We could see Nathan Horton moved down to the third line and Jagr join David Krejci and Milan Lucic, but we will know more tomorrow.

Dallas has traded Jaromir Jagr to the Boston Bruins in exchange for Lane MacDermid, Cody Payne and a conditional second round pick.

The Bruins failed to get a 500-goal scorer in Jarome Iginla but they have added a 679-goal scorer in Jagr. He brings veteran leadership with the ability to score even at the age of 41. He has 14 goals and 12 assists in 34 games this season. Jagr will definitely help the Bruins 24th ranked power-play.

Hearing that Jaromir Jagr has agreed to one-year, $4.5-million deal with the Dallas Stars

Jagr is an interesting addition to the re-tooling Stars. His skills appeared to be declining last season but could still be a mid-tier winger if he holds on to a top-six role with the Stars.
