Jaroslav Halak News

Halak starts Thursday.

Halak allowed one goal on 24 shots in a win over the Sabres on Tuesday. It was a nice bounce-back game as expected, he was pulled in his previous starts after allowing three in the first period. He draws a tough matchup tomorrow against the Bruins.

Halak gets the start on Sunday.

Halak gave up three goals on 24 shots but came away with the win on Thursday vs. Colorado. St. Louis got J.S Giguere early and often, leading to a 7-3 beat down. He draws a fairly tough assignment on Sunday when the Blues travel to Washington.

Halak gets the nod on Tuesday.

Halak shut the door on 19 of 20 shots in a win over the Penguins on Saturday. It was his fourth win in his last five starts and his ninth on the year. Halak carries a solid 2.19 GAA and .913 SV% in Tuesday's contest with the Coyotes.

Halak took the loss on Saturday after allowed four goals on 25 shots vs. the Lightning. After a blistering start to the season, Halak has cooled off as of late. His GAA now sits a 2.35 and SV% at .909. On Tuesday, he will face the Canadiens 15th ranked offence and the NHL's third best power-play (24.1%).

Halak starts tonight vs. Nashville.

Undeterred by the fact that Halak played last evening and gave up three goals on 21 shots, the Blues will go back to him tonight. He had a week off between starts so he is obviously rested enough to play in the back-to-back situation. He has a great chance to get back into the win column tonight when the Blues take on the Predators.

Halak will start in goal vs. Blackhawks.

Halak was pulled after the second before after allowing four goals on 26 shots. It was Halak and the Blues first loss of the season, but it came against the undefeated Sharks. He will look to bounce back tomorrow, but he has another tough matchup vs. the Blackhawks.

Halak will get his fifth straight start tonight.

Halak will lead the undefeated Blues against the undefeated Sharks tonight. He is 4-0 with a 1.75 GAA and .934 SV% behind a great St. Louis team. It is tough to predict who is going to win this one, but it is definitely a tough matchup for Halak.

Jaroslav Halak gets the nod again tonight vs. the Rangers.

Halak continues to have a stranglehold on the Blues starting job, and for good reason. He is 3-0 with a 1.34 GAA, .948 SV% and one shutout. Tonight he will face a Rangers team who have been dominated in their last two games (outscored 15-2), so I think its safe to roll with Halak tonight.

Halak stopped all 19 shots he faced in a 7-0 dismantling of the Panthers on Saturday. He is off to a good start this season with a 1.00 GAA and .959 SV%. The Blues plan to give Halak the majority of the starts going forward, instead of splitting time. It would be a good time to pick him up if he is available.

The plan entering the 2013-14 season was to give goaltender Jaroslav Halak the bulk of the starts in net. With as light as the schedule is early, the Blues will roll with Halak for the foreseeable future.

Halak backstopped the Blues again Saturday against Florida, and it’s possible that he may receive the first six assignments of the season.

Halak looked much better than his counterpart Pekka Rinne last night. He allowed two goals on 30 shots in the Blues 4-2 victory over Nashville. Although the Panthers beat the Stars in their opener, they are still rebuilding so the matchup is a good one for Halak.

Jaroslav Halak will start in goal tomorrow vs. Nashville.

Halak had a tough year with injuries and poor play in 2012-13. He went 6-5-1 with a 2.14 (the good) and a .899 SV% (the bad). In 2013-14 he will once again share starts with Brain Elliott and if he struggles, Jake Allen is waiting in the wings. That being said the Blues are a great team, especially defensively. When he starts, he is usually a good option.
