Jaroslav Spacek suffered a rib injury when he was checked along the boards near the Canadiens’ bench by Winnipeg’s Evander Kane on his second shift. There was no immediate word on how long Spacek will be out of the lineup, but he’s dealing with a painful injury that needs time to heal.
Spacek is the second defender lost to injury, which moved Yannick Weber back to the blue line. Playing primarily on the third pairing, the Rokycany, Czechoslovakia native scored only a goal and 16 points last season. If you owned Spacek, Weber is likely a better option in the short and long term.
