Skinner (concussion) is skating this morning, but not taking line rushes.

Typically a player who is available for the evening's game will take part in line rushes with the line that he will play with that night, with Skinner not taking part, it suggests he is not ready to return to the lineup on Thursday. Expect an update following the morning skate.

Skinner (concussion) will travel with the team, decision on his status will come Thursday.

Skinner was a full participant in Hurricanes practice this morning and skated on the third line with Brad Malone and Patrick Brown. He will probably take part in the morning skate and the Hurricanes will see how he feels before deciding whether or not he will play against the Rangers.

As expected, Skinner (concussion) is skating this morning--in a no-contact jersey.

This is the first time that Skinner has joined his teammates for a practice since suffering a concussion in the preseason. He will not play tonight, but is targeting Thursday for a return. Monitor his status leading up to Thursday's contest.

Skinner (concussion) skated by himself Monday and could be ready to play on Thursday.

Skinner has not played this season, but the Hurricanes expect him to be on the ice with the team on Tuesday and possibly make his season debut on Thursday. Eric Staal was injured over the weekend, so getting Skinner back in the lineup will be huge for the Hurricanes.

Jeff Skinner
Skinner was diagnosed with a concussion on Monday.

Skinner sustained the concussion on a hit by Matt Niskanen in Sunday's preseason game vs. the Capitals. Skinner has had concussion issues in the past, so this is not the way he or the Hurricanes wanted to start the season.“He will continue to be monitored by our team doctors and go through proper protocols in the coming days," said GM Ron Francis. Don't expect to see Skinner in the season opener vs. the Islanders.

Jeff Skinner
Skinner has been bumped to the third line after just one game on the tip-line.

Skinner played 17:56 with two shots in his first game back from an upper-body injury. Skinner skated with Eric Staal for the first time in his career, but he has already been dropped to the third line with rookie Elias Lindholm and veteran Radek Dvorak for this afternoon's contest.

Skinner (upper-body) has been activated off of IR and the Hurricanes say he will play tonight vs. Detroit.

Skinner, 21, has missed the Hurricanes’ last 11 games with an upper body injury sustained in the team’s game on October 24 at Minnesota. Prior to suffering the injury, Skinner led the Hurricanes in scoring with nine points (3G / 6A) in 10 games, and his plus-5 rating ranks first on the team. He is expected to skate on the top-line with Eric Staal and Jiri Tlusty.

Skinner (upper-body) is skating with Eric Staal and Jiri Tlusty at Hurricanes practice.

Skinner has missed the last 11 games but appears to be nearing a return. He has been skating with his team for nearly a week, so Thursday vs. the Red Wings seems like a possibility. Despite playing 11 less games, his nine points (3G / 6A) still ranks third on the team, just three points behind Staal. Monitor his status during Thursday's morning skate.

Head coach Kirk Muller still can't say if Skinner (upper-body) can play this week. Waiting to see how he comes through practice today and tomorrow.

Skinner appeared to be in line to play on Monday, but he was held out. There has been many mixed messages from coach Muller about when Skinner will play. Monitor his status prior to Thursday's matchup with Detroit.

Jeff Skinner
Skinner (upper-body) is at the Hurricanes morning skate and appears to be good-to-go tonight.

Skinner has been out since October 24 and missed the last 10 games with an upper-body injury. In 10 games before getting hurt, Skinner was the Hurricanes best offensive weapon. He has three goals and nine points, which still ranks third on the team (Eric Staal leads with 11) despite skating in 10 fewer games. We will get confirmation following the morning skate.

Jeff Skinner
Skinner (upper-body) could possibly play Friday head coach Kirk Muller says.

It was Muller earlier in the week who said that Skinner would be out a couple of more weeks, but this is very encouraging news. Skinner has missed the last eight games after a hot start. He had three goals and nine points in the first 10 games. If Skinner is unable to go tomorrow, his next chance to return would be Saturday vs. the Blues.

Jeff Skinner
Skinner is getting second opinion on his upper-body injury.

Skinner has been out since October 24th, but was expected to potentially return this week. He was not on the ice with the Hurricanes this morning, hopefully the second opinion does not reveal a serious injury for Skinner. He had three goals and six assists (nine points) in his first 10 games.
