Boqvist suffered an upper-body injury in Florida on November 18th and was moved to IR on Thursday. Moving Boqvist to IR opened up a roster spot to claim Nathan Bastian off of waivers from Seattle. Boqvist is eligible to come off of IR whenever he is healthy.

Boqvist has had a great start to the season in the AHL, ranking second on Utica with eight points (2G / 6A) in seven games. He'll be on the ice for Tuesday's morning skate and could draw into the Devils lineup for his season debut. He has scored eight goals with three assists (11 points) in 63 career NHL games.
Boqvist will replace Nick Merkely, who was sent the other way. Boqvist did not record a point while playing 14:06 ATOI in his first four games of the season.
Nick Merkley is coming up to make his season debut on Sunday so they send Boqvist to the taxi squad because he doesn't need waivers. Boqvist has yet to register a point with just two shots on goal in four games this season.
Boqvist played with the Devils on Tuesday but will go to the AHL to help Binghamton make the playoffs. He has eight points (5G / 3A) in 15 AHL games this season.
Boqvist will be replaced by Connor Carrick, who will play for the first time since mid-October and will dress as a seventh defenseman.
Boqvist has bounced in-and-out of the New Jersey lineup early-on, appearing in just six games total. The 2017 No.36 overall pick put up strong numbers in Sweden last season but is still searching for his first career NHL point. On Friday, he will skate with Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt.
Boqvist has been a healthy scratch for five games but will replace John Hayden in the lineup on Saturday. Boqvist will play on the second line with Wayne Simmonds moving down to take Hayden's spot. Boqvist has no points and just one shot in two games this season.
Rooney has played in the last three games, averaging 11:13 TOI/gm, but will be replaced by Jesper Boqvist on Monday. Rooney has no points, a plus-1 rating and two shots on goal in three games this season.
Boqvist played 12:16 TOI in the Devils second game of the season but has been a healthy scratch in four of their first five games. The 2017 second-round pick will skate on the third-line with Jack Hughes and Wayne Simmonds.
New Jersey selected Boqvist with the No.36 overall pick in 2017. The 20-year-old centre has been in the Swedish Elite League since 2016 and is coming off of a season where he had 35 points (13G / 22A) in 51 games with Brynas IF—good for second on the team.
