Vesey played 14:05 in the Rangers' 3-1 win over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday but was not available for practice on Wednesday due to a lower-body injury. Vesey has 18 points (12G / 6A) in 54 games this season.

Vesey had signed a one-year contract after a successful PTO to start 2022-23 but has now signed a two-year, $800,000 AAV extension with the Rangers. The 29-year-old earned the extension after putting up six goals, six assists, 62 SOG and a +4 plus/minus through 38 games this season.

Vesey was with the Rangers on a PTO and turned it into a one-year deal. Vesey broke into the NHL with the Rangers back in 2017 and played with them for three seasons. Since then, he's been with the Sabres, Maple Leafs, Canucks and Devils over the last three seasons. Most recently, he had 15 points (8G / 7A) in 68 games with New Jersey in 2021-22.

A bug appears to be going around the Devils room, Pavel Zacha missed their last game with a non-COVID illness and now it looks like Vesey may not be available on Sunday. He missed Saturday's practice, so monitor his status as the Devils hit the ice for warmups at 12:30 PM ET.

Vesey was scheduled to be in the Devils lineup on Wednesday but will be scratched after testing positive for COVID-19.

Vesey went into Devils training camp on a PTO and came out with a one-year deal after scoring two goals in three preseason games. Most recently, Vesey was in Vancouver, where he had just three assists in 20 games in 2021.

Vesey has missed the last three games but will play against the Islanders. Vesey will replace Evan Rodrigues on the Sabres' third-line and comes in with just two assists in 11 games this season.

This is a lot earlier than expected. Vesey was originally listed as week-to-week but is hopeful he'll play Saturday vs. the Islanders. Vesey recorded just two assists in his first 11 games with the Sabres.
