Jonas Siegenthaler News
Siegenthaler played 13:51 TOI in New Jersey on Saturday afternoon but will be replaced by Radko Gudas in the lineup vs. the Penguins.
Siegenthaler was involved in a collision with teammate Richard Panik on Wednesday night and suffered a shoulder injury. Panik got the worst of it and landed on LTIR on Friday morning but Siegenthaler, who has just one assist in eight games, said he expects to play vs. the Rangers.
With Evgeny Kuznetsov set to come back from suspension, the Capitals had to do some cap maneuvering on Sunday. Siegenthaler’s demotion is believed to be of the “paper” variety and he will likely be recalled prior to Tuesday’s game against the Stars.
Siegenthaler has been a healthy scratch for the last two games, but will play in his third career NHL game on Saturday. Siegenthaler has no points while averaging 11:37 TOI/gm in his first two.
Siegenthaler will make his NHL debut on Friday. The 21-year-old has picked up two assists in 14 games with Hershey this season. Siegenthaler will replace John Carlson (lower-body) in the lineup.
