Jordan Weal News
Weal, 24, leads the Phantoms with 47 points (15G / 32A) in 43 games and that ranks him second in the AHL. With Travis Konecny out for at least one month, Weal has been recalled and skated with Sean Couturier and Jakub Voracek in Friday’s practice.
Weal has only appeared in one game since being picked up by the Flyers, having served as a healthy scratch in the last six games. He will replace Scott Laughton in the lineup tonight.
Weal was acquired in the Vincent Lecavalier, Luke Schenn deal, but served as a healthy scratch in his first nine games with the Flyers. On Monday, that is expected to change. Weal had no points in 10 games with the Kings, but had 69 points (20G / 49A) in 73 games with Manchester (AHL) last season.
Weal, 23, was a third round pick (70th overall) in 2010 NHL Draft. Weal has no points in 10 career NHL games (all this season) and is coming off of a year where he had 69 points (20G / 49A) in 73 games with Manchester (AHL).
Weal, 23, is expected to replace Andy Andreoff in the Kings’ lineup on Friday. The 2010 third round pick (70th overall) had 20 goals and 49 assists (69 points) in 73 games with Manchester (AHL) last season.
Weal, 22, has 19 goals and 46 assists (65 points) in 70 games with Manchester this season. With the Kings out of the playoffs, Weal will likely make his NHL debut on Saturday. He was a third round pick (70th overall) in 2010.
Weal failed to make the cut, which speaks more to the supporting cast in Los Angeles than his talent level. Last season, the pivot scored 43 goals and 96 points for the Regina Pats of the WHL. Keep an eye out for him in a few seasons.
