The Blues have signed Justin Faulk to a seven-year contract extension worth $45.5 million ($6.5M AAV).

Faulk is headed into the final year of a deal that carries a $4.833M AAV cap-hit but gets a deal that will carry him through the 2026-27 NHL season when he will be 35-years-old. Faulk has failed to top 40 points in four straight seasons and is coming off of an 11-goal, 24-assist season in 2019.

The Blues have acquired Justin Faulk and a 2020 fifth-round pick from the Hurricanes for Joel Edmundson, Dominik Bokk and a 2021 seventh-round pick.

Faulk has been one of the best offensive-defenseman in the NHL over the last five seasons. Over that stretch, he is fourth in PPG (32), seventh in goals (67), 18th in PPP (79), 25th in points (189) and tied for 26th in Pts/gm (0.50). Heading to St. Louis, he’ll have to battle with fellow right-handed defensemen Alex Pietrangelo and Colton Parayko for playing time at 5v5 and him or Pietrangelo should quarterback the first power-play.

Faulk (lower-body) not expected to play Tuesday; could play by then end of the week.

Faulk has missed the last three games and is expected to miss his fourth consecutive game on Tuesday. Faulk’s loss is huge for the Hurricanes, so potentially getting him back at the end of the week is huge news for the Canes and Faulk owners alike.

Faulk (upper-body) not expected to play Tuesday; will likely play on Friday.

Faulk has missed the last three games with an upper-body injury, but he appears to be on-track to return on Friday. Head coach Bill Peters has not ruled Faulk out for Tuesday, but it doesn’t seem likely that he will play until later this week.

Faulk is week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

Faulk was injured in Sunday’s game vs. the Devils and will likely miss at least two weeks with an upper-body injury. With Faulk out, Jaccob Slavin and Brett Pesce will make up the Hurricanes’ top-pair. Noah Hanifin should take over Faulk’s duties on the top power-play unit.

Faulk (undisclosed) did not travel to New Jersey; will miss Monday’s game.

Faulk left Sunday’s game vs. the Devils with an undisclosed injury and it will keep him out of Monday’s game. Faulk is arguably the Hurricanes’ most important player, so this is a huge loss. Consider him day-to-day until more information on his injury is released.

Faulk (leg) is not expected to play Thursday in Toronto.

Faulk limped off of the ice during Wednesday’s practice and will miss his seventh game of the Hurricanes’ last eight. His leg injury has not progressed like the Hurricanes’ had hoped, so he’ll sit tonight in Toronto. Michal Jordan is expected to be back in the lineup for Faulk.
