Kahkonen went 3-1-1 with a 2.96 GAA and .913 SV% in his first five career NHL games in 2020. The 2014 fourth-round pick was really good in the AHL before getting promoted, going 25-6-3 with a 2.07 GAA and .927 SV%, so he’s certainly a capable backstop and makes for a solid spot start option vs. an offensively challenged Ducks team.
There is no word if Devan Dubnyk or Alex Stalock are dealing with injuries but it could be related to the personal reasons that forced Dubnyk to leave the team earlier in the year. The 23-year-old Kahkonen has gone 13-3-1 with a 2.56 GAA and .906 SV% in 17 AHL games this season.
Kahkonen's first taste of the NHL went pretty well. He went 3-1-1 with a 2.96 GAA and .916 SV% but his return to the AHL suggests that Devan Dubnyk could be available on Tuesday. Kahkonen has gone 7-2-1 with a 2.47 GAA and .909 SV% in the AHL this year.
