Letang suffered a concussion on a scary looking hit from Shane Doan on Saturday. We have learned this season that there is no way to determine how long a player will be out with a concussion and considering this is not Letang’s first, the Penguins will be extra cautious. This is a huge loss for the Pens heading into the playoffs. On Sunday they will play with just five defensemen, with Daniel Winnik serving as an emergency defenseman.

Letang was on the ice for the Penguins morning skate and it sounds likely that he will be in the lineup tonight vs. the Jets. Letang missed the Penguins final game before the All Star break with a head injury he suffered on a hit from Zac Rinaldo, which Rinaldo was suspended for eight games for.

Letang left Tuesday’s game after an illegal hit from Zac Rinaldo. Letang underwent concussion protocol following the game, but will visit with doctors this morning to determine the nature and severity of the injury. Expect an update later today or over the All Star break.

Letang was listed as questionable and when Brian Dumoulin was recalled this morning it looked like Letang wouldn’t play, but coach Mike Johnston confirmed that Letang will be in the lineup tonight vs. the Devils. Letand has three goals and one assist in eight games since returning to the lineup on December 12th.
