Glendening, 27, is coming off of the best offensive year of his brief career, having picked up 21 points (8G / 13A) in 81 games. He has only missed one game over the last two years and led Red Wings forwards in face-off percentage and shorthanded time on ice last season. It appears Glendening will be the Red Wings’ fourth line centre for the next five seasons.

The Red Wings utilized Glendening in a shutdown role vs. the Lightning last year. He will be called upon to do the same this year, so his availability for Wednesday’s game will be important to the Red Wings’ success. He averaged 14:35 TOI in the regular season and averaged 15:31 TOI in the seven game series last year.


Glendening missed the Red Wings’ morning skate due to an illness and is listed as questionable for tonight’s game. Glendening has just two goals on the season, so he can’t be counted on in fantasy circles.

Glendening was listed as questionable for tonight’s game after dealing with a lower-body injury after Tuesday’s win. He was on the ice for the Red Wings’ morning skate and will be in the lineup tonight vs. Carolina.

Glendening was injured while blocking a shot in Tuesday’s win over the Lightning. Monitor his status during Friday’s morning skate, but if he can’t play, then Joakim Andersson will replace him in the lineup.


Mike Babcock moved Glendening to the Red Wings first line with Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Tatar on Saturday. It probably is not a permanent move, but he will start Sunday’s game there. He has 12 points (8G / 4A) in 63 games.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Glendening has six assists, but is still searching for his first NHL goal. He has played 51 games this season and has played very well in a shut down, fourth-line role.

Glendening will get a shot to play in the Winter Classic on Wednesday. He has recorded one assist with a minus-7 rating in 16 games with the Red Wings.

With Helm set to return, Glendening was able to be optioned back to the minors.

Glendening has no points and a minus-3 rating in nine games with the Red Wings. With Cory Emmerton going the other way Glendening will very likely be in the lineup on Saturday.

Glendening doesn't expect to have much fantasy significance in his return to the big club.

Glendening play 9:46 and 10:06 in two contests during his most recent call-up. He did not record a point and was a minus-1. This move likely suggests Tomas Tatar will play after it appeared he was set to be a healthy scratch tonight. It also means that Johan Franzen shifts to centre on the second line and Darren Helm drops down to his regular spot centring the third line.

Glendening has no points and a minus-2 rating in six games with the Red Wings this season. He has split time between the NHL and AHL, he has three goals and three assists in eight games with Grand Rapids. The Wings are dealing with injuries down the middle right now, Glendening could see his most playing time of the season tomorrow in Tampa Bay.

With Johan Franzen set to return tomorrow, Glendening has been reassigned to the Griffins.

Glendening has not recorded a point in five games with the Red Wings this season. In the AHL he has scored once and added two assists in five games. With Johan Franzen dealing with an injury, Glendening has been recalled to provide forward depth on their western Canada road-trip.

Glendening had no points and a minus-1 rating in five games with Detroit. He'll return to the Griffins where he has two assists in two games.
