Havlat was cut by an inadvertent elbow by the ref last night while he was being hit from behind by Jason Chimera. Havlat was bleeding everywhere and had some pretty substantial cuts. Damien Brunner skated in his spot this morning.
Chimera caught Havlat pretty high from behind and rubbed him into the end boards. Havlat went down in a heap, bleeding from his nose and lip. Havlat will likely need some pretty serious repairs and miss some time. The first year Devil had one goal and two assists in his first four games.
Havlat scored 12 goals with 10 assists and a plus-14 rating in 48 games with the Sharks last year. He heads to New Jersey where he and newly signed Mike Cammalleri will look to try and spark a typically low-scoring offence.
Havlat is signed through next year and given that he has only suited up in 59.9% of games over the last three seasons and that he carries a cap-hit of $5 million dollars, I don't see any NHL teams lining up to acquire the 33-year-old.
