He hasn’t played well behind a team that is struggling but is a decent option tonight. The Islanders are racking up wins but they rarely score goals.

Koskinen allowed two goals on 33 shots in the Oilers loss in Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Koskinen has not registered a win since January 16th, going 0-4-1 with a 3.80 GAA and .871 SV% in six appearances since then. Koskinen replaced Cam Talbot in a 7-4 loss in their first game vs. Carolina—he allowed three goals on 18 shots.

Koskinen gave up two goals on eight shots after replacing Cam Talbot in the Oilers 6-2 loss to the Blackhawks on February 5th. Dating back to the middle of January, Koskinen has gone 0-3-1 wit a 4.25 GAA and .851 SV% in his last five appearances (three starts). The 30-year-old has gone 6-5-2 with a 3.29 GAA and .888 SV% on the road this season.

Koskinen allowed three goals on 18 shots after replacing Cam Talbot in the Oilers blowout loss to the Hurricanes on Sunday. Koskinen signed a three-year extension on Monday despite going 3-7-0 with a 3.94 GAA and .879 SV% in his previous 11 appearances. He draws a solid matchup on Tuesday vs. the Red Wings, who have lost 11 of their last 14 (3-9-2).

Koskinen’s NHL career got off to an excellent start, going 11-3-1 with a 2.12 GAA, .930 SV% and three shutouts in his first 16 appearances. However, since then he is 3-7-0 with a 3.94 GAA and .879 SV% in 11 games. It is a bit alarming to sign a goalie to that kind of money in the middle of a very difficult stretch but in Koskinen’s defence, he doesn’t have a great blue line in front of him.

Koskinen was outstanding on Monday, stopping 41 of 43 shots in a 7-2 win over the Sabres. Koskinen was able to put an ugly stretch of games behind him and will look to stay on-track tonight vs. the Canucks. It looks like a nice matchup on paper but Koskinen is 0-2-0 with a 5.37 GAA and .800 SV% in two games vs. Vancouver this season.

Koskinen went 11-3-1 with a 2.12 GAA, .930 SV% and three shutouts in his first 16 games but is 1-5-0 with a 4.58 GAA and .866 SV% in his last seven appearances. Tonight he faces a Sabres team that has lost six of their last eight (2-5-1).
