Nick Holden News
Holden has been a healthy scratch for the last 10 games but is expected to replace Collin Miller on Wednesday. Holden, who has 13 points (3G / 10A) in 51 games this season, played 18 games with the Bruins in 2017-18.
After a career-year in 2016-17, Holden struggled to just 12 points (3G / 9A) in 55 games with the Rangers this season. He was traded to Boston prior to the deadline and will replace Matt Grzelcyk on the blueline tonight.
Holden’s move to forward is part necessity and part punishment. Holden has struggled this season, evidenced by his team-worst minus-16 rating. He will skate on the Avs’ fourth line with Cody McLeod and Michael Sgarbossa, while Karl Stollery will take his spot on the blue line.
Holden, 27, had a strong season with the Avalanche in 2013-14. He scored 10 goals with 15 assists and a plus-12 rating in 54 games in his first full NHL season and first with Colorado. He should be amongst their top-6 blueliners in 2014-15.
Holden is 26, and has spent the majority of his pro career in the Columbus Blue Jackets system. He has never registered a point in seven career NHL games.
