Bergeron missed three games with an upper-body injury but is set to play Thursday against the Islanders. With Brad Marchand still suspended, Bergeron will centre a line with Taylor Hall and David Pastrnak. Bergeron has scored just one goal in his last 16 goals but has collected 10 assists over that span.
Bergeron skated in a non-contact jersey on Monday but will not travel with the team when they start their road trip on Tuesday. The Bruins said he could join them later in the trip but he will not play vs. the Rangers.
Bergeron suffered an upper-body injury in Tuesday's loss to the Penguins and will miss at least one game. This is a huge blow for the Bruins, who will most likely also be without Brad Marchand due to a suspension. Without Bergeron or Marchand, Charlie Coyle and Jake DeBrusk moved up into the top-6 in Wednesday's practice.
Bergeron is the third Bruins player to enter COVID-19 protocol in the last 24 hours, joining Brad Marchand and Craig Smith. If the Bruins list doesn't continue to grow and their games remain scheduled, missing half of their top-6 is obviously going to be an issue.
Bergeron is one of 16 regulars who will not be in the Bruins lineup on Tuesday. The Bruins will need to recall multiple players from their taxi squad/AHL to fill out their lineup. Jack Studnicka is one of the players that is expected to draw in and replace Bergeron at centre.
