Eaves, 32, has had a difficult time staying healthy during his two-year tenure with the Stars, missing a total of 63 games over that span. Despite missing a tonne of time, he has been a versatile forward, moving up and down the Stars lineup and collecting 25 goals and 19 assists (44 points) in 101 games.
Eaves will be held out of Tuesday’s game in Winnipeg because of an illness, but could be back in the lineup when the Stars return home for Thursday’s contest.
Eaves was moved to the Stars’ top line on Tuesday but he suffered a lower-body injury and did not return. Eaves has been moved to IR to create a roster opening to recall Curtis McKenzie. With Eaves out, Patrick Sharp may be moved up to the top line with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn.
Eaves suffered a concussion after being hit in the head by a John Klingberg wrist-shot last night. His movement to IR means that he will miss at least the next three games.
Eaves was hit in the head by a shot from teammate John Klingberg. He was down the ice for a few minutes before being helped to the locker room. Eaves was then taken to the hospital for x-rays. Coach Lindy Ruff said he should know more on Saturday but it looks like Eaves is going to “miss some time.”
Eaves has been out since December 2nd with an ankle injury, which cost him exactly eight weeks. He will be back in tonight and is expected to start on the Stars’ top line with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. Prior to getting hurt, Eaves had three goals and five assists in 19 games.
Eaves, who was listed as out indefinitely, did not require surgery on his injured ankle. He will miss one to two months, so don’t expect to see him back in the lineup until mid-January at the earliest.
Eaves was injured while blocking a shot in Tuesday’s loss to the Maple Leafs. The veteran forward will be “out for awhile” according to coach Ruff, who also added that the injury is “pretty bad”. The Stars have called up Curtis McKenzie.

Eaves scored two goals with three assists in 23 games with the Red Wings last season. In eight games with Grand Rapids (AHL), he had six points (4G / 2A). Eaves provides the Stars with a little more depth up-front, but he will not be fantasy relevant.
Eaves had served as a healthy scratch in the last four games with Detroit and will now fight for playing time in Nashville. He has two goals and three assists in 25 games with the Red Wings this season. The Red Wings moved Eaves to open up a spot on the roster for Legwand's arrival.
Since being recalled from Grand Rapids, Eaves has skated in eight games, recording one goal. Despite seeing time on the Red Wings second power-play unit, Eaves is not fantasy relevant.
Eaves was sent into the boards on a vicious crosscheck by the Leafs' Joffrey Lupul and did not return. Stay tuned to see if he gets added to the Wings' extensive injury report.

Eaves goes on waivers to clear cap space and room for Jonathan Ericsson to come off of IR. If Eaves clears waivers he will be assigned to Grand Rapids (AHL).
