There has not been a lot of news surrounding the severity of Rinne’s injury, but the fact that he was back on the ice this afternoon suggests that Rinne should be back soon. Monitor his status heading into Saturday’s game vs. the Oilers.

Rinne suffered what appeared to be a head injury during the Predators win in Calgary last night. Rinne was pulled from the game by a trainer after a collision with teammate Kevin Fiala. His move to IR means that he will miss at least one week and Juuse Saros will take over as the Predators No.1 netminder.

Rinne was replaced by Juuse Saros in the third period after being pulled by the Predators head athletic training. Rinne was hurt after an accidental collision with his teammate (Fiala). Head coach Peter Laviolette did not have an update on Rinne postgame, but look for Saros to start on Saturday.

Rinne gave up two goals on 31 shots in the Predators 4-2 win over the Wild on Monday. Rinne won’t start as often as most No.1’s in the league, but he should post some of the strongest numbers in the league when he starts. He comes into Friday at 3-1-0 with a 1.75 GAA, .943 SV% and one shutout in his first four starts of the season.

Rinne will be rested frequently this season and got Saturday night off, so he will be fresh for tonight’s meeting with the Wild. Rinne has a .946 SV% in three starts this season, but was 1-3-0 with a .903 SV% vs. Minnesota last year.

Things don’t get any easier tonight with the Jets in town—however Rinne was 3-1-0 with a 3.52 GAA and .901 SV% against Winnipeg last season.
