Now that Philipp Grubauer is in Colorado, Copley takes over as the Capitals’ backup and will make his Washington debut tonight in New Jersey. Copley was up to be Philipp Grubauer’s backup with Braden Holtby fighting a minor injury. Holtby is expected to suit up on Monday, so Copley heads back to the Bears, where he has gone 14-16-3 with a 2.86 GAA and .898 SV% this season.

The Blues’ No.1 Jake Allen has struggled mightily recently, so they will leave him in St. Louis when the Blues depart for Winnipeg for Saturday’s game. The Blues did not name a starter for Saturday, so the North Pole, Alaska native could make his first career NHL start.
Copley, 24, has gone 11-11-1 with a 2.75 GAA and .905 SV% with Chicago this season. With Jake Allen still sidelined, Copley has been recalled and is expected to backup Brian Elliott until Allen returns.
Copley served as Braden Holtby’s backup over the weekend while Justin Peters was on a conditioning stint with Hershey.
Copley, 22, has gone 6-3-1 with a 2.00 GAA and .921 SV% in 11 games with Hershey (AHL) this season. Justin Peters will go down to Hershey on a conditioning stint tomorrow and Copley is the most likely candidate to be recalled. He will likely backup Braden Holtby vs. Detroit on Saturday.
