The Capitals have re-signed Pheonix Copley to a two-year, $1.3M extension.

Copley was brought over from St. Louis as a part of the Kevin Shattenkirk and went 11-5-0 with a 2.15 GAA and .931 SV% in 16 games with Hershey (AHL) and was 5-4 with a 2.13 GAA and .933 in nine AHL playoff starts. Copley will start the 2017-18 season in Hershey.

The North Pole, Alaska native has gone 11-4-1 with a 2.32 GAA and .920 SV% with Chicago (AHL) this season. He has one career NHL appearance—he stopped five of six shots in Nashville on February 27th, 2016.

The Blues have recalled Pheonix Copley from Chicago (AHL).

Copley, 25, has gone 11-4-1 with a 2.32 GAA and .920 SV% in 18 games with Chicago this season. The Blues’ No.1 Jake Allen has struggled mightily recently, so they will leave him in St. Louis when the Blues depart for Winnipeg for Saturday’s game. The Blues did not name a starter for Saturday, so the North Pole, Alaska native could make his first career NHL start.

The Capitals plan to recall goaltender Phoenix Copley on Friday.

Copley, 22, has gone 6-3-1 with a 2.00 GAA and .921 SV% in 11 games with Hershey (AHL) this season. Justin Peters will go down to Hershey on a conditioning stint tomorrow and Copley is the most likely candidate to be recalled. He will likely backup Braden Holtby vs. Detroit on Saturday.
