The Capitals have acquired Radko Gudas from the Flyers for Matt Niskanen.

Gudas is heading into the final year of his four-year deal that carries a $3.35 million cap-hit, versus Niskanen’s two remaining years at $5.75 million. Gudas is coming off of one of his best offensive seasons, scoring four goals with 16 assists (20 points) in 77 games. Gudas was second on the Flyers in hits (255) and tied for third in blocked shots (133). He will help bolster the Capitals penalty-kill, where he played 2:37 per game last year—second among Flyers skaters.

Gudas (upper body) will not play on Thursday.

Gudas exited Wednesday’s game after being hit by Brandon Saad and will not be in the lineup tonight in St. Louis. With Gudas out, the Flyers will dig deeper into the D-man pool, bringing Will O’Neill in to make his NHL debut. Consider Gudas as questionable for Saturday’s game.

Gudas left Wednesday’s game with an upper-body injury and did not return.

Gudas left yesterday’s game in the first period after being hit by Blackhawks’ forward Brandon Saad. This is another big blow to the Flyers’ blueline that is already without Shayne Gostisbehere, Andrew MacDonald and Samuel Morin. Consider Gudas as doubtful for Thursday's game in St. Louis.

Gudas served his suspension and will make his season debut on Tuesday.

Gudas’ six-game suspension is up and he will play tonight vs. the Sabres. Gudas is often among the league’s hits leaders, but doesn’t provide a whole lot in the way of offence—Gudas had 14 points (5G / 9A) in 76 games a season ago.

The NHL suspended Radko Gudas for the first six games of the regular season.

Gudas was suspended for six games after his shoulder-to-head hit on Bruins’ rookie Austin Czarnik on Saturday night. The Flyers’ will already be without Michael Del Zotto on the back-end, but it looks like Brandon Manning (shoulder) will be healthy enough to replace Gudas in the season opener.

The NHL has suspended Radko Gudas for three games for his hit on Mika Zibanejad on Tuesday.

Gudas will miss this week’s Friday-Saturday back-to-back and then next Tuesday’s game vs. the Islanders. He is eligible to play next Thursday in St. Louis. Expect Nick Schultz (upper-body) to play tomorrow if he is healthy.

Gudas will make his Flyers’ debut on Monday.

Gudas missed 51 games a season ago after undergoing knee surgery and now 225 days after being acquired from Tampa Bay, Gudas will finally make his Flyers debut. Gudas is a rugged defenseman, who Flyers fans should love as long as he can stay in the lineup. He isn’t really known for his offence having registered just 32 points (7G / 25A) in 126 games in his career.

The Flyers have acquired Radko Gudas, a 2015 1st round pick and a 2015 third round pick from the Lightning for Braydon Coburn.

Gudas, 24, is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery in early January. He has one more year on his deal with a 992K cap-hit. Gudas is extremely physical and possesses a heavy slap-shot from the point. He was second on the Lightning in hits (115) and fifth in blocked shots (63) despite playing on 31 games.
