Robin Lehner News

Bryan Murray indicated he won't keep three goaltenders on the NHL roster long meaning Lehner will likely be sent back to the AHL once Craig Anderson is fully recovered from injury.

Of course this doesn't rule out a trade of any of the three goaltenders prior to the deadline. Lehner has been fantastic in 8 starts for the Sens this season (2.05 GAA and .940 sv%).

Robin Lehner will start in goal against the Lightning tomorrow.

Lehner stopped 27 of 29 shots in a 2-1 loss to the Bruins on Thursday. He will start Saturday vs. the Lightning. It is a decent matchup for Lehner. If he is available in your league he could be worth a pick-up the way he has been playing (1.92 GAA, .941 SV% in March).

Ben Bishop was reported to get the start yesterday but Lehner was the first goalie off of the ice this morning, indicating he will get the start. We will consider the likely starter for now and wait for confirmation later in the day. Lehner has seen a lot of rubber in his four starts, but has only managed to win one game despite putting up great numbers (1.89 GAA and .947 SV%).

Confirmed: Lehner starts tonight.

Lehner was 18-10-2 with a 2.12 GAA and .938 SV% in the AHL this season and is 4-6-0 in his NHL career. This will be Lehner's first start this season and the matchup can't get any harder for the 21 year old. Ottawa takes on Tuukka Rask and the Bruins who are 12-2-2 this season. However Lehner did post a 32-save shutout vs. Boston last season.

Ben Bishop is expected to make his Ottawa debut against the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight after the Senators recalled him and reassigned Robin Lehner to Binghamton on Monday.

Lehner had a nice run but will return to the minors for more seasoning. After winning his first three decisions of the season, the rookie lost consecutive games, allowing four goals on 28 shots during his last appearance.
