Robin Lehner News
Lehner had a phenomenal season, finishing second in the NHL in SV% (.930), third in GAA (2.13) and tied for 18th in wins (25) in 46 games. He also played well in his two starts against the Penguins, going 1-0-1 with a 1.72 GAA and .939 SV%. The Islanders earned home-ice advantage in the first-round—Lehner was 12-6-2 with a 2.05 GAA, .929 SV% and three shutouts at home.

Lehner missed the last three games with an upper-body injury that he suffered last Tuesday, but was back on the ice for practice on Wednesday. Thomas Greiss, who shutout the Blue Jackets on Monday, will likely start Thursday vs. Montreal but Lehner could be back for this weekend’s back-to-back (Sat. @ DET / Sun. @ MIN).
The Islanders would not confirm whether or not Lehner has a concussion and only called him “day-to-day” with an “upper-body injury.” Thomas Greiss is expected to start with Chris Gibson as his backup on Thursday.
Lehner was forced to leave Tuesday’s game against the Senators following a collision with Brady Tkachuk and did not return. The Islanders called Christopher Gibson from Bridgeport (AHL) on Wednesday morning, which suggests that Lehner will not travel to Ottawa for Thursday’s game. Look for Thomas Greiss to start tomorrow.
Lehner was pulled after allowing three goals on 13 shots in the Islanders 4-1 loss to the Flyers on Sunday. Despite a rough outing, Lehner will face the team that drafted him on Tuesday. He is a must-start against a Senators team that has torn their team apart—they have lost seven of their last eight while being outscored 35-to-16.
