Ryan Lindgren News
Lindgren has missed the last three games while in COVID-19 protocol but is expected to be back in the lineup vs. Edmonton. Lindgren will likely replace Zac Jones in the lineup and will be paired with Adam Fox.
With Lindgren entering protocol on Sunday and Jarred Tinordi entering on Monday, the Rangers are left with just six healthy defensemen as they get ready to start a three-game week. Based on protocol rules, expect Lindgren to miss at least four games.
Lindgren was set to become an RFA this summer but the Rangers were quick to get him signed to a three-year contract extension. Lindgren spent most of the season on the top pairing with Adam Fox and finished the year with 16 points (1G / 15A) in 51 games.
The Rangers are eliminated from playoff contention and only have three games remaining, so Lindgren will sit out for the remainder. Lindgren, who has been out since April 29th, finishes the season with 16 points (1G / 15A) in 51 games.
Lindgren was hurt in a fight with Nazem Kadri after hitting Joonas Donskoi and did not return to Tuesday's game. He was originally expected to face supplemental discipline but then the NHL Department of Player Safety changed their mind, making him eligible to play on Thursday. He has no points in his last seven games.
After coming up from the AHL, Lindgren appeared in three straight games but will be scratched in favour of Marc Staal on Wednesday.
Lindgren was a second round pick of the Bruins (No.49 overall) in 2016 and has picked up seven points (2G / 5A) in 33 games in his second-year at the University of Minnesota.
