Greiss allowed one goal on 37 shots to earn his first win as a Red Wings in Florida on Sunday. Greiss has played decent behind a bad team, posting a 3.03 GAA and .903 SV% in nine appearances. Despite beating the Panthers a few days ago, this is not a good matchup for the veteran netminder.

Greiss stopped 40 of 42 shots in the Red Wings' loss to the Hurricanes on opening night. It was a terrific debut for Greiss, who kept the Red Wings in it while they were being dominated. Jonathan Bernier started Game 2 but they will come back to Greiss on their Monday matinee. In his second start, he'll face a Blue Jackets team that is 0-2-0 to start the season, scoring just three goals in their two games in Nashville.

After five years with the Islanders, Greiss signed with the Red Wings this offseason and will split time in the crease with Jonathan Bernier this season. Greiss will get an opportunity to make an immediate impact as he starts the season opener vs. Carolina. Going from a structured Barry Trotz team to Detroit will undoubtedly hurt Greiss' numbers. The Red Wings were outscored 14-to-5 in three games against the Hurricanes a season ago.

Greiss goes from a timeshare with Semyon Varlamov to a timeshare with Jonathan Bernier in Detroit. Expect him to start roughly 50 percent of the games but his win equity will be way lower with the Red Wings.
