Hertl has had a terrific season, scoring 25 goals with 23 assists (48 points) in 59 games for the Sharks. Hertl has spent all nine years of his NHL career in San Jose since being drafted No.17 overall in 2012. His new deal will take him through the 2029-30 NHL season.
Hertl was added to COVID-19 protocol just prior to the Christmas break and has been cleared to play on Tuesday. It's unclear who he will replace in the lineup but he'll be back in the top-6 and top power-play unit.
Hertl has missed the last six games after being added to the COVID-19 list but will return to the lineup on Friday. Hertl will be back on the second line with Timo Meier, who also is expected to return to the lineup, and comes in with 11 points (6G / 5A) in 17 games.
Hertl tested positive for COVID-19 and head coach Bob toughener said he'll miss at least two weeks as he follows protocol. With the Sharks back in action on Saturday, look for Alexander Chmelevski to replace Hertl in the lineup.
Hertl was forced to leave Wednesday's game after only a few shifts after falling awkwardly in a collision with Chris Tanev. Hertl tore both his MCL and ACL and will miss the rest of the season. An already difficult season for San Jose just got a whole lot worse. They'll now be without both of their top-2 centres for an extended period of time.
Hertl has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury but will be a game-time decision vs. the Kings on Friday. The Sharks are expected to go back to 12 forwards and six defensemen if Hertl plays.

Hertl was forced to leave Thursday's game in Anaheim with a knee injury but it won't cost him any games. This is obviously huge news for the Sharks because Hertl comes in on a five-game goal-scoring streak and has seven goals in his last seven games.
Hertl suffered a hand injury in Tuesday’s practice and today’s morning skate but head coach Pete DeBoer said that Hertl will be in the lineup for Game 1. Hertl has enjoyed a career year, setting career-highs in goals (35), assists (39) and points (74) in 77 games. The 25-year-old has six goals and three assists in 10 playoff games a year ago.
Hertl has missed the last two games and five of the last seven, but is expected to play Tuesday vs. the Oilers. Hertl is expected to be back on a line with Logan Couture and Timo Meier, where he has spent the majority of the season. Hertl has 16 points (5G / 11A) in 16 games.
Hertl missed Thursday’s game vs. the Maple Leafs and is not expected to play on Saturday. When head coach Pete DeBoer was asked about Hertl’s status for Saturday’s game, he said “probably not.”
Hertl did not practice on Wednesday and missed Thursday’s morning skate. Head coach Pete DeBoer said that Hertl is day-to-day and will be re-evaluated on Friday. Antti Suomela will move up the lineup with Hertl out.
Hertl left Tuesday’s game vs. the Predators with a lower-body injury and is listed as day-to-day. Hertl’s status means that he is questionable to play Thursday vs. the Maple Leafs. The Sharks said they will know more tomorrow.
Hertl will miss his second straight game with a head injury, which means that Antti Suomela will remain in the Sharks lineup. Missing tonight’s game also leaves Hertl questionable for Friday’s matchup in St. Louis.
