Tomas Vokoun News

Team spokesman Sergey Kocharov said only that Boudreau would address the goaltending change after the game, making no comment about whether or not it's an injury.

Vokoun left the game relatively abruptly despite allowing three goals on 17 shots. Should he be hurt for an extended period, Michal Neuvirth should be able to handle the load.

Barring injury, there was nothing Michal Neuvirth to do this preseason to change his role with the Capitals. Tomas Vokoun is the starter

The Caps clearly signed Tomas Vokoun as their starting goalie in an attempt to better their team. Last season, the Czech native finished the season with a tidy 2.55 GAA and .922 SV%. With the Caps his peripherals should improve while his win totals skyrocket.

“Hopefully I’m going to have the chance, which I didn’t have the last few years, which is to sit in that crease and some games and the score is 4-1 or 5-1,” Vokoun said. “I don’t have to worry every minute of every game. If it’s 1-1 or 2-1 and every mistake you make people tell you."

Vokoun should greatly benefit from winning more games. Despite a career .917 SV%, the Czech 'tender sports a 262-267-35-41 line.
