Hamonic was moved to IR on Thursday after suffering a lower-body injury on Wednesday. Hamonic will miss at least two weeks. Brad Hunt will replace him in the lineup on Friday.
Hamonic suffered a lower-body injury mid-way through Wednesday's win over the Bruins. He was moved to IR on Thursday, opening up a roster spot for Noah Juulsen to be called up from the AHL.
Hamonic has been getting sent down when the Canucks travelled but he's now fully vaccinated and should remain with the team moving forward. Hamonic has one assist in seven games with the Canucks.
With the Canucks back on home ice on Wednesday, Hamonic was recalled and is expected to draw back into the lineup vs. Colorado. Hamonic has one assist in four games with Vancouver this season.
Hamonic was hurt in the third period of Wednesday's game and was placed on IR prior to Thursday's game vs. the Canadiens. With Hamonic out, Brogan Rafferty was added to the 23-man roster and either he or Jordie Benn will draw into the lineup on Thursday.
Both Hamonic and Alex Edler left Wednesday's game vs. Montreal and did not return. During his postgame press availability, head coach Travis Green did not have an update on either defenseman. If both aren't available for Thursday's game, look for Olli Juolevi and Jordie Benn to be in the lineup.
Hamonic was in Canucks training camp on a PTO but was always expected to sign before the season. Hamonic inked a very team-friendly, one-year deal and is expected to start the season on the second-pair with Quinn Hughes. The 30-year-old defenseman averaged five goals, 13 assists, 71 hits and 170 blocked shots per-82 games in his three seasons with the Flames.
Hamonic has been granted a leave of absence from the Flames for family reasons. Hamonic's daughter recently overcame a respiratory virus and Hamonic said in a statement that he wishes he "could lace up my skates and be out there battling, but my family has and always will come first."
